I’ll admit it, I almost never read the bio that publicists send with music, I’m afraid of tainting my first impression with their obvious bias. When I first saw the name Hilary Scott I thought the girl from that band was going out solo, but something made me give it a listen anyway, and I’m damn glad I did; ‘Don’t Call Me Angel’ is right up there with the best albums I’ve heard all year and it can be yours October 12th.
Thanks to my buddy at Robert’s Country Blog I found my way to the music of Colin Boutwell, specifically his album ‘Gas Station Roses’, released last month. Imagine my surprise when I found out Colin was raised less than 100 miles from me in good ol’ Massachusetts. After you read this article, it’ll be obvious that I’ll be at the next live show north of Rt. 2 with a Sharpie and V-neck; Hopefully Colin is adept at signing through chest hair.
If you’d asked me a couple months ago, I’d have told you September was looking a little thin for new releases, but several albums where recently announced, including some long-awaited projects from some big names.
Soak in September, because October is shaping up to be another great month for new music as well!
